Good news for KL Rahul's Delhi Capitals, uncapped batter picked by DC smashes 153 runs ahead of IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals picked uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi smashed 153 runs against Himachal in the Under 23 State Trophy.

Uttar Pradesh's young batter Sameer Rizvi who came into the limelight when Chennai Suoer Kings (CSK) brought him for a whopping Rs 8.4 crore during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction but after a dismal outing in the last season the Chennai-based franchise released him before the mega auction for IPL 2025. 

Delhi Capitals (DC) brought him for Rs 95 lakh in the mega auction that took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The star player again flexed his form with a stormy century while playing for UP in the Under 23 State Trophy.

Rain of fours and sixes, bowlers in bad shape

During the UP vs Himachal 50-over match in Vadodara, After coming to bat first, Sameer Rizvi came out as a lone warrior where he scored 153 runs on 114 balls including 14 fours and 12 sixes with a strike rate of 134.21. Apart from Rizvi, Shaurya scored 21 runs and helped UP to score 232 runs in 42 overs.

Himachal's pick of bowlers was Ritwik Kumar taking four wickets, apart from Ritwik, Aniket took 3, and Sahil Sharma got 2 wickets helping Himachal to win the match by six wickets. 

Himachal won the match easily When Himachal's team came out to chase the target, Kushal Pal and Inesh Mahajan came for opening. But Kushal got out after scoring 12 and Inesh after scoring 32 runs. However, the team came close to the target due to Aryavrat Sharma's 66 and captain Mridul Suroch's 32 runs. In the end, thanks to Amanpreet Singh's 48 and Vaibhav Kalta's 28 runs, Himachal won the match by 6 wickets in 45.4 overs.
