Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 scheduled to start from November 22.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri said that the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be important for the young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal is currently practising in Australia along with the Indian cricket team for the upcoming five-Test match series assignment scheduled to start from November 22.

Shastri also reckoned that Jaiswal will be a better player after the Australia series. He also said that the young India left-handed batter is someone who scores pretty well in Australian conditions.

“I think he’ll be a better player when he leaves Australian shores. Already he’s world class. You saw what he did against England (and) just the freedom with which he plays. He’s come up the hard way, so you can see that hunger and passion, not just in his eyes, but when he’s out there in the middle, fielding in the slips" said Shastri Fox Cricket.

“He wants to be involved in the game. I think once he adapts to these conditions – it’s not going to be easy to adjust in Perth with that bounce, no matter how talented you are. You have got to be prepared to do the hard yards. But if he can see that phase through, I think he’ll entertain. He will love these pitches. He’s someone who score pretty freely as well,” Shastri added.

The upcoming five-Test match series against Australia is important for India to seal their spot in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final which is scheduled to take place in England next year. India need to register 4-0 win against Australia to confirm their berth in WTC final without depending on other team's outcomes. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will most likely to miss the first Test as Rohit was recently blessed with a baby boy so he is spending time with his family in Mumbai and Gill who is currently in Australia along with Indian Cricket Team got injured during match simulation. The young India batter fractured his thumb while fielding in slips at WACA.
