Story Highlights:

Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for just 1 run in Mumbai T20 League 2025.

A large crowd gathered at Wankhede Stadium to see Shreyas Iyer in action.

Despite Shreyas Iyer's early dismissal, SoBo Mumbai Falcons won in a comprehensive manner.

In the Mumbai T20 League 2025 semifinal, SoBo Mumbai Falcons captain Shreyas Iyer's wicket was a crucial one. Defending a total of 130, NaMo Bandra Blasters dismissed Iyer for a single-digit score and it led to wild celebrations.

Iyer went for a big shot but miscued and was caught. Bowler Sagarr Chhabriaa's animated celebration led to Iyer smiling as he walked back to the dugout. Chhabriaa's captain Akash Anand was laughing too as Iyer lost his wicket in front of a huge crowd at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on June 10.

Chaabriaa struck twice in the eighth over. He dismissed top-order batter Amogh Bhatkal as well. Iyer scored just one run from three balls as his underwhelming run in the tournament continued.

However, despite Iyer getting dismissed cheaply, SoBo Mumbai Falcons chased down the target of 131 with five wickets in hand and 32 balls to spare. In the powerplay overs, Angkrish Raghuvanshi contributed with a 14-ball 27 cameo laced with three sixes. Ishan Mulchandani remained unbeaten for a 34-ball 52 whereas an in-form Akash Parkar scored 32 runs from 20 balls.

Iyer to play another final

Iyer's SoBo Mumbai Falcons will now lock horns with Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals in the T20 Mumbai League 2025 final on June 12 at the same venue.

Iyer's diminishing returns of late

Iyer has not been in good form as he has scored just 50 runs from four innings. Since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final where Punjab Kings (PBKS) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), he has not played a big knock.

Iyer on expectations as captain, performing in pressure situations

Earlier this week, Iyer talked about the expectations to contribute as captain. He has been relishing the role of a leader since he was 22 years old.

"You are always expected to perform and contribute in the best way possible for the team because whenever there is a hurdle or some kind of adversity you face as a team, they always come to the captain. I think I have got a lot of experience as I have been captaining since I was 22. I have enjoyed the moments and also embraced it. I love the fact that I can come out and lead," Iyer said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

While the stage of Mumbai T20 League 2025 will not be as grand as the IPL 2025 final, Iyer would look to perform in a pressure game. Iyer said that he embraces the challenge and wants the crowd to get behind him, which is highly likely at Wankhede Stadium.

"I just try to get into my zone and I try to do things which are there in front of me. I try to stay focused as much as possible, just to stay in the present, embrace the situation, embrace the crowd because sometimes they get very electrifying and pass on the energy to you. So I keep telling myself that I want the crowd to cheer my name, and that brings that kind of motivation," Iyer added.
