Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and his wife Dona Ganguly will be protesting in Kolkata against the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor. The brutal incident in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College has sparked nationwide outrage and protests. Sourav has come out and openly demanded strict punishment for the criminals involved in this heinous crime. Students of Dona Ganguly's dance academy will also be participating in this protest rally and all of them will be wearing black clothes.

The horrifying crime that was committed at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has shocked the nation. On August 9, the victim's body was discovered in a hospital seminar room. The following day, a civic volunteer was detained for alleged involvement in the crime. On Sunday, agitated junior doctors at state-run hospitals continued their cease-work to demand justice, causing healthcare services across West Bengal to remain affected for the tenth day in a row.

The junior doctors have been asking for the victim's post-mortem examination report to be made public and that the perpetrators be punished as soon as possible. The case was transferred from the Kolkata Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which began its investigation on August 14. This was ordered by the Calcutta High Court on August 13.

"I told that last Sunday, I don't know how it was construed or was interpreted. I have said it earlier also, it's a terrible thing. Now CBI, police are investigating the matter. Its very shameful what has happened. I hope that CBI, who are investigating the matter, once they find the culprit strict punishment should be given. The punishment should be such that no one dares to commit such crime again in their life. That is important. Punishment has to be severe," Sourav Ganguly told the reporters on Saturday.

Sourav Ganguly turns his DP black

Sourav Ganguly has changed the profile pictures of his social media handles to black to express solidarity with the victim of the Kolkata Rape Case, on Tuesday. Even Harbhajan Singh demanded justice in this case and said the whole nation should come together so the criminals can get strict punishment.

"What happened to our country's daughter in Kolkata recently was very wrong and to get her justice, I think we all should come together and not make it a political issue. The girl should get justice as soon as possible... I request Mamata Didi, Governor, PM Narendra Modi, President and all other big leaders of the country that this is the time when we all should come together and make such a law that if any person does such a heinous act in future, then he should keep in mind what will be the consequences," said Harbhajan Singh.
