Veteran India cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has urged Gautam Gambhir to stay away from social media and not think too much about what people have to say about him. This comes after the India head coach had given an epic response to Congress Shashi Tharoor, who had said on social media that Gambhir has the hardest job in the country after the Prime Minister.
Gambhir had addressed rumours of there being a rift between him and senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He said that he has been pitted against his own team, adding that people will soon come to realise that there is no such thing as a coach with "unlimited authority". Gambhir's tweet ended up making rounds on social media.

Rahane believes that Gambhir needs to stay away from social media atleast until the T20 World Cup. He further said that the latter needs to focus on the team as coaching Team India is not an easy job by any means.
“My only response to this is that GG should probably stay away from social media. Probably not think too much about what people are saying about him or telling him. He played his cricket in a great manner, and now he's coaching Team India, which is a very responsible job,” Rahane said on Cricbuzz.
“He should stay away from social media and focus on the team. That's my personal opinion. Let's just focus on the main thing: stay away from social media till the World Cup is over,” he added.
The criticism against Gambhir
Gambhir has faced a lot of criticism due to the team's disappointing results particularly in Tests and ODIs. Team India suffered a Test series whitewash at home to South Africa in November. This made Gambhir the first Indian coach in history to suffer two series sweeps in Tests at home. If this wasn't all then New Zealand recently defeated the team by 2-1 in a three-match ODI assignment and thsi once again saw Gambhir come under scrutiny.
Team India's sensational run in T20Is
However, the team has been in exceptional form under Gambhir when it comes to T20Is. They had handed South Africa a 3-1 defeat in a five-match T20I series held in December and have now taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 against New Zealand. They have claimed victory in the opening three games of the series and will be looking to maintain their red-hot form in the fourth T20I that will be played on January 28 at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
