Ihsanullah is unlikely to play in ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has struggled to manage the workload of fast bowlers in the past few years. After Shaheen Afridi’s injury went unnoticed until it became a big issue, now their promising fast bowler Ihsanullah who stunned everyone in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 with his speed has been on the receiving end of PCB medical staff’s faux pas.

Ishanullah who was fastracked to Pakistan’s T20I and ODI squad suffered an elbow injury during home series against England in May 2023. Initially, PCB's medical staff misdiagnosed the injury. As per multiple reports, this led to a long delay as he did not benefit from the treatments during his rehabilitation. He went under the knife in Lahore but it did not help him and extended his recovery period.

Multan Sultans owner left frustrated

Multan Sultans owner Ali Khan Tareen earlier this week revealed that the franchise has been footing the bill for Ihsanullah's treatment abroad which includes his family’s stay as well.

“While Ihsan was doing rehab in NCA Lahore, he was staying in an apartment with his family. All rent and living expenses were paid by MS,” Tareen wrote on X.

“We retained him in the PSL even though he was injured so he could spend time with our Physios and S&C.

“We are flying him to England this month to be assessed by a world renowned surgeon.

“Ihsan is currently back home in Swat because he wanted to spend time with his family before the upcoming UK trip.”

However, Tareen has now got permission from PCB to send him to the UK to consult a specialist.

The 21-year-old’s mistreatment has left PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi frustrated as it could lead to youngster losing his pace. He is likely to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.

Rauf wasn’t treated fairly either

Earlier, Pakistan’s white-ball speciallist Haris Rauf was refused help from PCB after he refused to be a part of the Test series against Australia. Rauf had to seek help from PSL franchise Lahore Qalandars as PCB did not help Rauf, Qalandars owner Sameen Rana paid for his treatment.
