After choosing to bat first, India faced early trouble when Deeksha Katragadda was dismissed for a duck in the second over. However, Tanishka Sharma stepped up with a steady, 56-ball 58 that included eight boundaries, anchoring the team's recovery.
Tanishka Sharma stands tall with brilliant fifty
She paired up with Ira Jadhav (26 off 21 balls) for a vital 57-run second-wicket partnership, while handy cameos from Kumari Palak (21) and Kashvi Kandikuppa (12) guided India to a competitive total of 134/6.
Janhavi, Maitri dazzle with fiery three-fers
Sri Lanka's chase began brightly thanks to opener Vimoksha Balasuriya, who compiled a defiant 61 off 52 balls, hitting eight fours along the way. Balasuriya kept the hosts firmly in the hunt by building productive partnerships with fellow opener Sanjana Kavindi (14) and Manudi Nanayakkara (24).
India's bowlers gradually dismantled the chase, starting with Kashvi (1/24) removing Sanjana in the seventh over. The definitive shift came in the 16th over when Maniar bowled Nanayakkara, leaving the hosts at 95 for two. Maniar struck the fatal blow two overs later by dismissing the dangerous Balasuriya, causing the Sri Lankan chase to unravel.
With Veerkar finishing with stellar figures of 3/14 and Maniar claiming 3/26, the Indian bowling unit restricted Sri Lanka to 123 for eight in their 20 overs. The result marks Sri Lanka's second consecutive defeat, setting the stage for the third and final T20 showdown between the two sides on June 27.
