Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was the main orchestrator with the ball as his team Haryana bundled out Uttarakhand for just 207 runs in their opening Vijay Hazare trophy match in Ahmedabad on November 23. Chahal, who has not been in the reckoning for India at the international level for more than six months, took six wickets while conceding just 26 runs in his designated 10 overs.

Chahal claimed his fifth List A five-for just two balls later when he got the wicket of Mayank Misha for a duck. The spinner then claimed his third six-wicket haul in his final over, finishing with figures of 6/26 in 10 overs.

Chahal began his List A career with Haryana in 2010. Notably, a majority of his 50-over wickets — 121 — have been for India since his debut in 2016.

Despite not being part of India's ODI World Cup squad, the 33-year-old showcased his prowess with a remarkable six for 42 against Australia in 2019, his best ODI figures.

The leg-spinner reached his career-best List A figures of six for 24 while representing Haryana against Jammu and Kashmir in 2012. Chahal's most recent appearance for India was in a T20I series against West Indies in August earlier in 2023.
About the match, a late flurry of runs from the bat of Aditya Tare was enough to get the team past 200 runs. He scored 65 runs in 68 balls before Chahal cleaned him up with a brilliant ball.

This was after opener Kunal Chandela gave his team a bright start with his 47 runs in 61 balls.
