'We were under immense pressure': Rohit Sharma reveals his mindset when South Africa were rushing towards T20 World Cup 2024 win

Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed that the team's calmness was the main reason behind India's comeback in T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma revealed team's mindset in the T20 World Cup 2024 final when South Africa were rushing towards the win David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen were smashing the Indian bowlers to all over the ground. Rohit said that the calmness and working to exicute the plan was the main reason behind India's comenback in the final. 

 

Rohit Sharma & Co. defeated South Africa by a narrow margin of seven runs in a nail-biter clash at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29. With this win India won the ICC title after 11 years. In the latest events, India skipper Rohit Sharma, who is in the USA revealed how team defeated Proteas in the final.

“I don't look too far ahead. It's very important for me to stay in the moment and focus on the job at hand. It was very important for all of us to stay calm and try to execute our plans. When we were under immense pressure when South Africa needed 30 runs off 30 balls, the five overs that we bowled showed how calm we were. I Went Co We just focussed on our job, not thinking much about anything else. We didn't panic that was very good from our side,” said Rohit as per onecricket.

 

However, After T20 World Cup win, India captain Rohit announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game and the cricket board is yet to announce his replacement for the T20Is. Apart from Rohit, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja also announced that the T20 World Cup final was their last T20 for India but all three of them will play ODIs and Tests for India.

India's upcoming ODI and T20I series

 

Men in Blue will now face Sri Lanka for the three match T20I series followed by 3 match ODI series where likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the series consedaring the workload. Both Rohit and Kohli are currently on a family vacation in London.
