The auction dynamics are intriguing, with 30 coveted slots up for grabs across the five participating teams. Among these, nine slots are reserved for international players, underlining the global appeal of the league. The team rosters have undergone changes, with 60 players retained across the board, including 21 overseas cricketers. Simultaneously, 29 players have been released from their existing squads, paving the way for fresh talent infusion.

As teams gear up for the auction, they bring varying financial arsenals to the table. The Delhi Capitals, last year's WPL runners-up, are armed with a purse of Rs 2.25 crore, aiming to fill up to three vacant slots. On the other end of the spectrum, the Gujarat Giants, having overhauled more than half of their roster, possess the most substantial budget of Rs 5.95 crores to address ten vacancies.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians enter the auction fray with the need to fill five seats and a budget of Rs 2.1 crore. Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have seven slots to be occupied, coupled with a purse of Rs 3.35 crore. The UP Warriorz, armed with a Rs 4 crore budget, are gearing up to fill five spots at the auction.

Interestingly, Deandra Dottin, previously acquired by Gujarat Giants for Rs 60 lakh in the WPL 2023 auction, faced controversy as she was withdrawn from the competition before the season commenced. The Gujarat squad saw a change, with Kim Garth stepping in. However, the Australian all-rounder found herself among the 11 players released by the franchise during the off-season.

Notably, only four players, including Australian duo Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham, English wicket-keeper Amy Jones, and South African pacer Shabnim Ismail, have set a base price of Rs 40 lakh, adding an extra layer of anticipation to the upcoming auction.
