Ravindra Jadeja surpasses MS Dhoni's record with stunning knock against West Indies, only 3 Indians above him on elite list

Jadeja scored a fine century against West Indies on Day 2 of first Test

Veteran India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja reached yet another milestone in his already illustrious Test career during the second day of the first Test against West Indies. The 36-year-old continued his brilliant form with the bat in red-ball cricket and scored a valiant half-century after facing 81 deliveries. His knock included of three boundaries and  four sixes.and this saw his tally of maximums foir the format reach 79.

With this, Jadeja surpassed MS Dhoni as the Indian player with the fourth-most sixes for India in red-ball cricket. Only Rishabh Pant, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma have hit more maximums for the Men in Blue when it comes to the longest format. Notably, Jadeja didn't just settle for a fifty and went on to bring up his sixth Test hundred later during the third session.

He finished the second day of the Test unbeaten on 104. Jadeja has so far hit six boundaries and five towaring sixes in his knock and will be hoping to pile on more runs as he returns to the crease for Day 3.

2. Virender Sehwag - 90 sixes

3. Rohit Sharma - 88 sixes

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 80 sixes

Jadeja one step closer to scripting history

The century saw Jadeja edge closer towards the 4000-run mark in red-ball cricket. If he does end up reaching the milestone on third day, then he will become just the fourth player in history to score over 4000 runs and take over 300 wickets in the nlongest format, joining legends like Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori on the elite list.

Meanwhile, India completely dominated during the second day of the first Test against West Indies. KL rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja all scored centuries as the hosts wrapped up Day 2 on 448/5. They have already taken a mammoth lead of 286 runs and will be looking to pile on more misery for the West Indies as the action resumes on Day 3.
