Now, the eighth-time Ballon d'Or winner has received special appreciation from his former Barcelona teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his stunning World Cup campaign so far. The former Sweden International who is known for a sort of arrogant behaviour was seen in awe of Messi's magical performance.
In an interaction with Fox Sports, Zlatan hailed Messi for scoring five goals in just two World Cup games, a feat which he never achieved despite playing two World Cups for Sweden. The former AC Milan player ended by saying that he is very happy for the Argentine and hopes Messi continues to shine like this in the upcoming games as well.
"Five goals in two games. I have zero goals in two world cups. So I'm h I'm happy for him and I hope he continues," said Zlatan.
