Arsenal just lost the UEFA Champions League title to Paris Saint-Germain following a 4-3 loss on penalties. The Gunners made it to the final after two decades. The last time they played the UCL final was in 2006 against Barcelona, losing it 2-1.
With Mikel Arteta’s side losing the final, they also lost one of the crucial chances to add the trophy to their cabinet. The title would have been their first-ever Champions League title.
Has Arsenal ever won a UEFA Champions League title?
No! Surprisingly, Arsenal has never won the Champions League title. Despite their rich history and consistent presence in Europe's elite competition, the Gunners remain one of the few major European clubs yet to lift the prestigious trophy.
Arsenal's closest brushes with glory came in the two Champions League finals they have reached. In the 2005-06 season, under legendary manager Arsène Wenger, Arsenal became the first London club to reach the final. They faced Barcelona at the Stade de France in Paris and took the lead through Sol Campbell, but a red card for goalkeeper Jens Lehmann shifted momentum. Barcelona fought back with goals from Samuel Eto'o and Juliano Belletti to win 2-1.
Twenty years later, in the 2025-26 season under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal returned to the final against Paris Saint-Germain. The match ended 1-1 after extra time, with Arsenal ultimately losing 4-3 on penalties. This heartbreaking defeat extended their wait for European football's ultimate prize for the 2025-26 Premier League winners.
