Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni has reflected on Lamine Yamal's pre-El Clasico statement after his team's win over Barcelona. Los Blancos got the better of their arch rivals with a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday, October 26.
In what was a tense clash, first-half goals from Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham ensured Madrid secured maximum points in the first El clasico of the season. Fermin Lopez, meanwhile, was Barca's only scorer in the clash.
The interesting game, however, peaked with a moment of chaos between players from both sides, particularly Yamal, Dani Carvajal, and Vinicius Jr. The veteran Madrid defender seemed to have confronted the Barcelona winger, taunting him for his statement before the match. Vinicius Jr also took a dig at the 18-year-old for the same.
Yamal had accused Real Madrid of "stealing" and "complaining" during a livestream with influencers days before El Classico. While interacting with the press after the game, Tchoumeni was questioned about his opinion on Yamal's comments.
The Frenchman replied by saying that Yamal's comments served as motivation heading into the game. He said:
“I love when Lamine speaks. It motivates me. The match is played on the pitch.”
Yamal had a quiet game against Real Madrid, unlike Tchouameni, who was appreciated by fans for his contributions in his side's win. The win saw Los Blancos register their first win in five games against Barca and open up a five-point lead over Hansi Flick's men at the top of the table.
Lamine Yamal's father breaks silence after El Clasico defeat vs Real Madrid
The Barcelona winger's dad has not responded through an Instagram post, reminding that there is a reverse fixture later in the season, and that his son is still a teenager. He posted:
“Fortunately, he’s only 18 years old. See you in Barcelona.”
Xabi Alonso's side have moved five points clear at the top, after 2-1 victory against Hansi Flick's side. Kylian Mbappe started the scoring for Los Blancos before Fermin Lopez equalized, but Jude Bellingham ensured that the home side went into the break with the lead.
Los Blancos could have scored a third but Mbappe saw his penalty saved, but it did not cost them the three points as they held on to their lead until the end.
