At 40, he is showing no signs of slowing down as he leads the charge for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Under all the captains Ronaldo has played so far in his career, one has had the most lasting impression on him.

In an interview with TalkTV in 2022, the former Manchester United great was asked who he thinks is the best captain he has played under. Without any hesitation, Ronaldo took the name of his former teammate Roy Keane, naming him as the best captain he has played under. Both Keane and Ronaldo shared the pitch for 68 times during the 2003 and 2005 season. 

As I mentioned many times, Roy Keane for me was my best captain ever, Ronaldo said.

 

These words coming from someone like Ronaldo have great importance and Roy Keane has also shown his respect towards his former teammate. Such was the case when Erik ten Hag had sidelined Ronaldo after the striker refused to come on against Tottenham Hotspur in 2022. The Irishman took his stand for against Gary Neville and defended the Portuguese.

Roy Keane was undoubtedly one of the best footballers for United in the late 1990's and 2000's. He spent 15 years of his career at the Old Trafford. 

Keane's journey began with Nottingham Forest in 1992 and he was quickly signed for the Red Devils. During his time at United, he established himself as one of the greatest midfielders in the Premier League history. His attitude and temperament was something which was never seen before and made him one of the hardest players in football.
