In a big blow to Pakistan, Shahnawaz Dahani has been ruled out of the all important Asia Cup's Super Four clash against India on Sunday (September 4).

Pakistan's star star pacer Dahani is out of the game with suspected side strain as reportedly he suffered the injury while bowling in the match against Hong Kong on Friday (September 2), which Pakistan ended up winning by a record margin of 155-run. The 24-year-old bowled an impressive spell of 2/7 in that match.

"He has complained off a side strain after the match against Hong Kong and he is being monitored but the medical team will probably decide to have a scan after 48 to 72 hours," a PCB official aware of the developments in the Pakistan team said.

"Dahani is with the team but the indications are he might not play in remaining matches of the tournament and will require proper rehab," he added.

Mohammad Hasnain or Hasan Ali could replace Dahani in the high-octane clash.

According to PCB, the medical staff will observe him over the next 48-72 hours before making a decision, which could include a scan and continued participation in the competition.

The pacer is yet another addition to Pakistan’s growing casualty list, with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr ruled out.

India got the better of Pakistan by five wickets in their Group A clash last Sunday (August 28) where Dahani smashed 6-ball 16 but remained wicket-less in his spell of four overs while conceding 29 runs.

India too suffered an injury blow on Friday, with Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the remainder of the tournament.
