Virat Kohli gets out after scoring 17 runs in the second innings.

He did not take a review against the LBW call.

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was once again unable to play a good knock as he returned to the dugout after scoring just 17 runs in the second inning of the first Test against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on September 20 (Friday). However, his departure in the second innings was more of an error on his part and what many are calling a clouded judgment. He did not take a DRS call to overturn the on-field umpire's LBW decision but it was later found out that there was a clear edge of the bat involved in it.

Virat did not take review

Virat was batting on 17 runs when Mehidy Hasan Miraz got his wicket in the 20th over. On the second ball of the over, Kohli was given lbw by umpire Richard Kettleborough. However, after having a word with Gill, the star batter decided not to take a review but later it was seen that Kohli had nicked the ball before it hit his pad, and had he gone upstairs, the third umpire would have ruled in his favour and asked the on-field umpire to change his decision.

Kohli has been out of touch in the past many games. He only had one fifty-plus score in his last 16 matches across all formats. He even had an underwhelming performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024. He could only hit one fifty throughout the tournament but it came on the crucial occasion in the Final against South Africa. His torrid run continued in the Sri Lanka ODI series, where he could only score 58 runs in three ODIs with his highest score being just 24.

However, Team India is currently in a strong position, and after bowling out Bangladesh on just 149 runs they earned themselves a big lead of 227 runs. They are currently moving towards putting together a big target in front of Bangladesh and tightening their grip on the match. At the end of Stumps Day 2, India is batting at 81/3 and leading the game by 308 runs.
