Hardik Pandya's ouster from World Cup led to Prasidh Krishna's inclusion in Team India's squad right ahead of the clash against South Africa. Hardik suffered an ankle injury during India's World Cup clash against Bangladesh on October 19, which Men in Blue won by seven wickets. Following that incident he was kept under strict monitoring of BCCI medical team and also missed out on India's next three matches against New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka, until he was formally declared unfit to play.

Meanwhile, Hardik's departure paved the path for Prasidh, who was called in as his replacement for the remainder of the World Cup.
Meanwhile, right ahead of the clash against South Africa on November 5, India's head coach Rahul Dravid revealed the reason behind Prasidh's inclusion in Men in Blue's World Cup squad.
“After Hardik has been injured, we have played with three quicks. In reserves, we had a backup for spin and all-rounder but needed a backup for a fast bowler,” Prasidh said in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.
Rahul humorously remarked that while their team is missing a sixth bowler, they do have Virat Kohli, who with his unconventional inswinging deliveries can step in to bowl a few overs whenever required.
“Yes, we don’t have the option to have a sixth proper bowler but we have a wrong-footed inswinger menace whom we can back for a couple of overs. He was close to doing so in the last game with the crowd pushing him to do so. The response of the team and the players have been really good,” Rahul added.
The star pacer has so far played 17 ODIs and have 29 wickets under his belt with a best bowling figure of 4/12.
