Former South Africa pacer Shabnim Ismail is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament's history.

The ninth edition of ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 is set to commence on October 3 with hosts Bangladesh taking on Scotlanad at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the marquee event, six-time T20 World Champions’ Megan Schutt and Ellyse Perry are on the cusp of breaking the all-time record for most wickets in the history of the tournament. Defending champions Australia start their campaign against Sri Lanka on October 5. Megan and Ellyse have a chance to reach the top in the group stage itself.

Here’s a look at top five wicket-takers in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 –

5. Stafanie Taylor

Part of West Indies' 2016 T20 World Cup champion side, Stafanie Taylor has 33 wickets from 31 games. She has played for West Indies since the inaugural edition. Her best bowling figures are four wickets for just 12 runs. Stafanie has a chance to move up the list after rolling back her retirement. 

4. Ellyse Perry

The swashbuckling all-rounder has 40 wickets from 42 games. The pacer is yet to take a four-wicket haul. She has bowled 122 overs, the most by a bowler in the top five.

3. Megan Schutt

Australia’s pace bowling spearhead Megan has 40 wickets from just 24 games. Her average of 12.27 is the best on the list. She has two four-wicket hauls as well. She is third on the list despite making her T20 World Cup debut in the 2016 edition. In the 2020 edition, she bagged 13 wickets from six games, the joint-most in a series.

2. Anya Shrubsole

Former England pacer has 41 wickets from 27 games averaging 12.48. Her economy rate of 5.32 runs per over is the best on the list. She holds the joint-record for most wickets (13) in an edition. She bagged 13 wickets from six games in 2014 edition.

1. Shabnim Ismail 

Former South Africa pacer Shabnim is on top with 43 wickets from 32 games at an average of 15.25. He has bowled eighth maiden overs, most by the bowler in the tournament's history.
