The Gujarat Titans announced on Thursday that Kagiso Rabada had departed the team for "personal reasons" halfway through the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). During the IPL 2025 mega auction, Kagiso Rabada, who had previously played for Punjab Kings, was purchased by Gujarat Titans for an incredible ₹10.75 crore.
"Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa from the ongoing season of the IPL due to some personal reasons. The South Africa international was a part of Gujarat Titans’ first two matches of the IPL 2025. Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter,” Gujarat Titans said in a statement.

Against the Punjab Kings, the South African pacer made his Gujarat Titans debut, taking 1/41 in his four overs. He came back against the Mumbai Indians with numbers of 1/42. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he did not see the Gujarat Titans' victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru, though. Gujarat Titans did not provide much specifics regarding Kagiso Rabada's abrupt departure when contacted. Additionally, the team did not specify a rough comeback date for the South African pacer.
There is still no update on when the Proteas superstar will rejoin the Titans' side. GT will be facing Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game, which will be played on April 6. Rabada would have been crucial for the Titans side as they take on the destructive batting line-up of SRH.
