Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) endured a night to forget as they collapsed to one of the worst defeats in franchise history during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a modest target of 169, SRH were completely dismantled by Gujarat’s pace attack and were bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs, handing GT a dominant 82-run victory.
The collapse began right from the opening over when Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head for a duck before Kagiso Rabada removed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan cheaply.
SRH never recovered from the early collapse as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals, with only skipper Pat Cummins showing brief resistance late in the innings.

Pat Cummins backs SRH despite heavy loss
Despite the crushing defeat, Cummins defended his side after the match and credited Gujarat’s bowling attack for making the most of difficult conditions.
The SRH skipper admitted the pitch became challenging once the bowlers consistently hit hard lengths but insisted that such collapses are part of T20 cricket.
Cummins also backed Hyderabad’s batting unit, pointing out that their top-order has consistently delivered throughout the season and urged the team to quickly move on from the defeat as the playoff race intensifies.
