MI's all-rounder Tilak Varma is heard griping in the video about Rinku still going to receive one of Rohit's bats even if he now has nice bats of his own.

After young pacer Ashwani Kumar destroyed the Kolkata Knight Riders with a 4-24 haul, Ryan Rickelton scored a fine unbeaten half-century to help the Mumbai Indians win by eight wickets at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday, earning them their first points of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After hitting KKR for 116 in 16.2 overs, Rickelton, who had just achieved a record double hundred for South Africa, took advantage of the easing circumstances to smash his first IPL 50 off 33 balls as the Mumbai Indians reached 121/2 in 12.5 overs.

Rickelton smashed four boundaries and five maximums in his 62 not out off 41 balls, helping to raise 46 runs with Rohit Sharma (13) for the first wicket and 45 with Will Jacks (16) for the second. Mumbai easily won with plenty of time to spare thanks to Suryakumar Yadav, who was undefeated at 27 off nine balls and sealed the victory with a six.

Ashwani Kumar was the star of the day, setting up the Mumbai Indians for victory with the highest statistics by an Indian bowler in his IPL debut. Ashwani Kumar had an incredible debut, scoring four runs in his first game as the Mumbai Indians took advantage of the Wankhede pitch's assistance to thrash the reigning champions for 116.
