Irani Cup and Duleep Trophy are expected to make a comeback in India's domestic circuit after three years. The two major domestic events could not be scheduled due to Covid-19.
As per the proposed schedule of all domestic events in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) meeting on July 21, Duleep Trophy will begin on September 8 and go on till the end of the month. On the other hand, in the Irani Cup event, Madhya Pradesh will take on Rest of India starting October 1, 2022.
Also, Ranji Trophy matches will be played in different groups as before with four groups of eight elite teams and one group of six plate teams. This year, BCCI had to host the event in two different windows due to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
“It's still early days here at the NCA but my vision, which has found resonance with my wonderful team at the academy, revolves not just around the players. As much as it is imperative to build a strong bench that the various national teams can draw from as required, it is essential that we build a solid bench when it comes to coaches and other support personnel," VVS Laxman, who travelled with the Indian team to Ireland as their coach said.
