Former England batter rewarded with contracted extension by Afghanistan Cricket Board for orchestrating national team's success

Jonathan Trott, the former England batter turned coach, has had his contract as the head coach of the Afghanistan cricket team extended for an additional year. Trott, who began his tenure as head coach in July 2022, has seen his initial 18-month contract come to a successful conclusion in 2023. During this period, he has steered the Afghanistan team to several noteworthy achievements, underscoring his effective coaching strategies and deep understanding of the game.

One of the highlights of Trott’s coaching stint includes Afghanistan's stellar performance in the T20 Asia Cup 2022. The team not only showed remarkable skill and determination but also secured its first international win under his guidance. This was further complemented by a T20I series victory against Pakistan and an unprecedented ODI series win over Bangladesh, marking significant milestones in the team's cricketing journey.
