Former India head coach and cricketer Ravi Shastri, who is doing commentary duties, penned down a heartfelt post mourning the death of his former teammate Hugh Morris, with whom he shared the dressing room at Glamorgan County Cricket Club during the late 1980s and 1990s.
Shastri took his 'X' and wrote a engthy message, offering his sincere condolences to Morris’ family while recalling the memories they created together on and off the field.
"Really gutted to hear of the passing of teammate and captain Hugh Morris. Baanas, God bless your soul. You were honest in whatever you did, and did a bloody good job. Heartfelt condolences to the family. Respect,” Shastri wrote on his official X handle.

Ravi Shastri and Hugh Morris played together
Notably, former England cricketer and ex-ECB chief Hugh Morris passed away at the age of 62 after a long fight with bowel cancer. He was diagnosed with the illness in January 2022.
Born in Cardiff, Morris served for Glamorgan and went on to represent England with distinction. After his playing days, he continued to give back to the sport by taking up important leadership roles in cricket administration.
Morris passed away on December 28, 2025, and his death deeply saddened many in the cricketing world, including Ravi Shastri. The two shared a close bond from their time together in the dressing room. Shastri had played four seasons of county cricket for Glamorgan during a period when West Indies legend Viv Richards was also part of the scene. Even after retiring, both remained closely connected to the game they loved.
Their paths crossed often over the years. While Shastri went on to coach the Indian cricket team, Morris became the managing director of the England and Wales Cricket Board and later served as the CEO of Glamorgan County Cricket Club.
