Bangladesh's interim BCB president Tamim Iqbal and PCB chairman will not be present at the ICC annual board meeting in Ahmedabad on Sunday, which coincides with the IPL 2026 final. The final game will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Tamim Iqbal to miss ICC meeting in Ahmedabad

Top cricket administrators from all over the world have gathered in Ahmedabad for the ICC's Board and Committee meetings on May 30 and 31. The meetings were originally scheduled to be held in Doha, but the venue was shifted to India amid security concerns in the West Asian region.

Several crucial matters on the table during the meetings, consisting of a proposal to restore a global qualification pathway for associate nations in the future Men's T20 World Cups. The move picked up momentum after the growing popularity and strong performances of associate nations on the global stage.

The ICC is also expected to assess the possible changes to the World Test Championship (WTC) structure, with discussion around giving better opportunities to teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan to compete in WTC for points. Additionally, there will also be a discussion regarding the future global broadcasting rights.

Notably, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to join the meeting through virtual mode. On the other hand, BCB interim president Tamim Iqbal will not take part in the meeting in any capacity, despite ongoing efforts to solidify the cricketing ties and diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and India.
