England captain Eoin Morgan ahead of the team’s second warm-up game against New Zealand updated the media about all-rounder Liam Livingstone’s injury that the 28-year-old sustained in a warm-up match against India on Monday.
“Liam is fine and fully fit. No other problems so far, touch wood,” informed Morgan.
The 28-year-old suffered a finger injury on Monday in the warm-up match against India. Liam was seen leaving the field in pain with the team’s physio to address his finger on the left-hand, which was injured when he put a catch down while fielding in the mid-wicket region.
Liam was named in coach Chris Silverwood’s squad for the T20 World Cup as Ben Stokes’ replacement, who is recovering from a broken finger and has taken an indefinite break from cricket citing mental health. The all-rounder had scored England’s fastest T20I ton against Pakistan and was also named the MVP of the season during the inaugural edition of the Hundred.
England will play Kane Williamson led New Zealand in their final warm-up game on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi before commencing their T20 World Cup campaign against the defending champions West Indies on October 24 in Dubai.
